Once upon a time, there was a girl named Freya. She might have been the luckiest girl in the whole world because she owned her very own candy store. Freya was not more than 18 years old, but she inherited the candy store from her grandfather and grandmother. Freya didn’t know much about running a candy store, but she received a lot of help from her mom and dad, so now she felt ready.
First, she had to decide what kind of candy she wanted to sell in her store. There are so many possibilities. Can you think of some ideas for what she should sell?
[Ask your child what Freya should sell]
That’s right! She should sell [Insert what your child said]. There was candy on all the shelves, and it was almost a dream come true for Freya.
Now that Freya had her candy in place, she needed to decide what to name her candy store. It didn’t take many seconds before she came up with it. Of course, it should be called Freya’s Candy Store. She made a really beautiful sign for the shop that said “Freya’s Candy Store.”
Journalists from the local newspaper came to write a story about the new candy store in town. Even TV2 stopped by to do a news segment about the 18-year-old candy store owner, Freya. With all this media attention, Freya got a really good start when she opened the store for the first time. There was a long line of people outside the store waiting to buy candy from her. When the first day was over, Freya was very tired. So much had happened on her first day of opening the store. But Freya was still very happy and proud of herself.
As the days went by, Freya felt like tasting some of her own candy in the store. There was just so much different candy.
[Ask your child what kind of candy it was]
She couldn’t resist; she had to taste a little bit of everything, and she ended up with a stomach ache from all the candy, and she hadn’t even opened the store yet. What should she do? She decided that she would never eat so much candy again. Now she had to spend a whole day in the store with a stomach ache, which wasn’t pleasant. That evening, when she got home and thought about the day, she decided to also have an alternative in the store to all the candy. Namely, a lot of vegetables and fruits, but she did something very special with the vegetables and fruits. Using food coloring, she made the most beautiful apples in all sorts of colors: purple, pink, yellow, blue, and even rainbow-colored apples. She did the same with the carrots, cucumbers, and even the bananas were not just yellow; they were also purple, pink, blue, and rainbow-colored. It actually ended up that many children who came into the store to buy candy also bought fruits and vegetables because they were so beautiful.
Freya was happy that something good came out of a bad stomach ache and remembered that next time something bad happens to her, she will turn it into something positive.
