Peter is in a bad mood. He was excited to play ball with the boys, but just as they were about to start, it began to rain. Peter’s dad immediately notices how disappointed his son is.
Then he gets an idea: Maybe Peter would cheer up if he turned him into a pizza.
He lifts Peter onto the kitchen counter and begins. First, he “kneads the dough” and stretches it from side to side. Then the dough is tossed into the air and spun around. After that comes some oil (which is really just water), a bit of flour (which is actually baby powder), and some tomatoes (which are really small game pieces).
Peter giggles when his mom says she doesn’t like tomatoes on her pizza.
“Alright,” Dad says, “no tomatoes. Just a little cheese.”
(The cheese is tiny pieces of paper.)
“How about some pepperoni, Peter?” he asks.
Peter doesn’t answer. He’s only dough — and toppings.
But when the dough gets tickled, it laughs loudly.
“Pizza shouldn’t laugh!” Peter protests.
“And pizza chefs shouldn’t tickle their pizzas!” Dad laughs back.
“Well,” Dad says, “I think this pizza is ready for the oven.”
“Ahhh! Now our pizza is getting nice and warm!”
Dad carries the pizza to the table.
“Time to slice,” he says.
But the pizza jumps down and runs away!
The pizza chef chases after it.
Finally, the pizza is caught — and hugged.
Now the sun has come out again.
And the pizza decides it’s time to go outside and find his friends.
