One day, while Sia was drawing with chalk on the turnaround outside her house, she saw a very beautiful dog walking past her. It was a sweet Goldendoodle, a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. It had the most beautiful light brown wavy coat.
The dog now sat in the middle of the road, scared because its owner was not nearby. The dog was very sad and whimpering, so Sia hurried over to it, gave it a hug, and took it home.
When she got inside, she immediately called for her sister:
“Naja!! Hurry up and come here!!” shouted Sia. “I found a dog!”
“Awwwww” was the first thing Naja said. Naja loved dogs and had always wanted a dog she could hug and take care of, but she wasn’t allowed to have one because her father was unfortunately allergic to dogs.
And just then, their father came in, having heard Sia shouting.
“Where did you find this dog? Why did you bring it home?” asked their father.
“It was just standing in the middle of the road because its owner abandoned it, so I brought it home. It should stay with us now, please dad!!” Sia replied. Sia’s father smiled at her and told her that it couldn’t be done because he was allergic to dogs.
But Sia didn’t give up. She hurried to find her mobile phone and searched for everything about Goldendoodles. It turned out to be a very good idea because she found out that they are very hypoallergenic, so her father could tolerate the dog after all.
So she rushed to her father and told him everything. He listened to everything Sia told him, but also concluded by telling her that unfortunately, you can’t just take someone else’s dog, so we had to find the rightful owner.
Sia knew he was right and became a little sad as she thought about the whole situation while she found a plastic bowl in the cupboard, filled it with water, and gave it to the dog.
To find the dog’s owner, her father took a picture of the sweet dog and posted it in the town’s Facebook group, asking for the owner. Shortly after, his phone went “pliiiiing,” and a message from the dog’s owner appeared. It turned out the dog had escaped from their garden and run away. The dog lived with a family, a mother, a father, and a little girl who came to pick up the dog 15 minutes later. Sia was very sad, but also happy that the dog was reunited with its owners.
That night, Sia slept very poorly. She cried most of the evening because she missed the dog so much. She didn’t know she could miss a dog SO much in such a short time.
A couple of weeks later, it was a special day—it was Sia’s 12th birthday, and all she wanted was a dog. Her father and mother had a tradition of coming in the morning to sing a birthday song for her. Her little sister Naja was of course also there, and this time, she had a special surprise for Sia. It was the sweetest puppy with a red ribbon around it, running and jumping onto the bed with her and licking Sia all over her face. Sia was SO happy that they didn’t even finish the birthday song.
“THAAAANK YOU! This is the best birthday present I’ve ever received,” said Sia as tears streamed down her cheeks. Suddenly Sia became quiet and then she said, “I’ve found the name for the dog, she shall be called Lizzy!”
And from that day on, Sia and Lizzy became the best of friends.
