One day, the little tailor was sitting and enjoying a jam sandwich when he noticed some flies buzzing around him. He took a piece of cloth from his workbench and swatted all the flies in one blow.

“Wow! Seven flies with one smack!” he exclaimed excitedly.

He was so proud that he stitched the words “Seven at one smack” into his belt.

The tailor decided to go on a little adventure to show people how brave he was.

He put on his belt and packed a piece of bread and some cheese.

Outside, he saw a bird pecking at the ground.

“Come with me on an adventure, little bird,” shouted the tailor.

“You can have all the bread you can eat!”

The tailor gently placed the bird in his pocket, and off they went down the road toward the mountains.

Before long, they met a giant who had frightened the villagers for years.

The tailor felt brave and shouted,

“Good day, dear friend!”

“How dare you speak to me?” the giant roared.

But then he saw the words on the tailor’s belt.

The giant thought it meant the tailor had killed seven giants with one blow!

The giant didn’t believe it. So he picked up a large rock and crushed it in his hand.

“Can you do that, little man?”

“Easily,” laughed the tailor.

He pulled the cheese from his bag and crushed it into pieces.

The giant grabbed another big rock and threw it high into the air.

“I bet you can’t throw as high as that!”

The tailor carefully took the bird from his pocket and tossed it into the sky.

The bird soared even higher.

The giant couldn’t believe his eyes.

“Okay,” said the giant, “if you’re so strong and brave, you surely dare spend a night in my cave.”

The tailor followed the giant to the cave. But he didn’t trust him.

So when the giant fell asleep, the tailor crawled into a dark corner of the cave.

In the middle of the night, the giant woke up and smashed a stone in rage.

CRASH!

He was sure he had crushed the tailor and ran down to the village.

When the villagers saw the giant, they screamed in fear.

But suddenly, the little tailor appeared.

“This mighty giant couldn’t even kill me!” he shouted.

The giant thought he was seeing a ghost and was terrified.

He ran as fast as his legs could carry him—and was never seen again.

Everyone in the village was very grateful and praised the tailor for his great courage.
