The Elf Who Got Lost in SuperMart

It was a cold December evening, and Nimble the elf and his family had sneaked into SuperMart after closing time to look for Christmas decorations. Elves had their own special rules – and one of them was that they could only collect decorations that humans had already chosen not to buy.

Nimble was thrilled. He loved shiny ornaments, twinkling lights, and little elf figurines that looked just like him.

But Nimble was also curious. While his family was gathering decorations from the discount shelf, something else caught his eye – a teddy bear sitting on the bottom shelf in the toy aisle.
“Wow!” whispered Nimble and ran over for a closer look. The bear wore a tiny red hat, just like his own. “We could be twins!” he thought.

When Nimble finally looked up again, his family was gone. They had already moved on to the next aisle.
“Oh no! Where did they go?” gasped Nimble. He spun around, but every shelf looked exactly the same.

Panicking, Nimble decided he needed to find a higher spot to look for them. He climbed up the toy shelf, but just as he reached the top, the store’s night guard walked by. The guard frowned and said,
“What’s that teddy bear doing up there?”

Before Nimble could react, the guard grabbed him – Nimble froze in fear – and tossed him into a big cardboard box filled with other stuffed toys.

“I’m not a toy! I’m an elf!” Nimble shouted, but of course, the guard couldn’t hear him. All that came out was a tiny squeak.

Quietly, Nimble crawled out of the box and ran toward a shelf full of Christmas lights. There he spotted a big glowing star flashing red and green. “Maybe my family came this way!” he thought. He climbed up to get a better view – but just then, the star lit up, bathing Nimble in shimmering colors.

A late-night shopper noticed him and exclaimed, “Wow! That star looks so different from the others. I have to buy it!”
Before Nimble could protest, he was scooped up and dropped into a shopping basket.

As he sat there, bumping along the aisle, Nimble had an idea. “I need help – and I know who to ask!”
He called out to a group of tiny store mice scurrying by. “Hey! Can you help me find my family?”

The mice were kind and clever. They led Nimble all the way to the freezer section, where his worried family was still searching for decorations.

When Nimble finally found them, he jumped into his big brother’s arms. “I promise I’ll never wander off again!” he said.

From that night on, Nimble was known as the elf who wasn’t just brave – but wise enough to ask for help when he needed it.
And the SuperMart mice? They got a big bowl of warm porridge as a thank-you from the entire elf family.
