Tommy and Tristan were brothers. They both loved football (but supported different teams), neither of them liked broccoli, and they both loved robots. When they had dinner, they would try to sneak broccoli onto each other’s plates. And they both wanted to win the robot competition.
Tommy and Tristan worked hard on their robots, each dreaming of beating the other. On the day of the competition, the organizer asked them what their robots could do.
“Mine is super strong,” said Tristan. “It can lift anything!”
“Mine is super fast,” said Tommy, pushing Tristan aside. “It’s faster than a jet!”
Just then, the organizer’s phone rang.
“Bad news,” she said. “The judge’s car broke down several kilometers away. Unfortunately, I have to cancel the competition!”
Tristan and Tommy looked at each other. If they worked together, their robots could both save the judge and the competition. But could they agree to work as a team?
The brothers hammered, welded, and adjusted until they had built a gigantic super robot. They opened the control panel and coded their instructions. BEEP! BEEP! The robot nodded, and ZOOM! Off it went!
The audience held their breath as the robot disappeared from view. Could it really rescue the judge?
Moments later, the robot returned, carrying the judge’s car above its head. It set the car down, and the judge stepped out.
“Who built this incredible robot?” he asked with a smile.
Tommy and Tristan stepped forward.
“I’ve already found a winner,” said the judge. “You both won!”
Tommy and Tristan smiled at each other. Winning was great, but winning together was even better!
