The Toy Hospital

The Toy Hospital

Toys are generally very nervous about going to the hospital. Research has shown that as soon as toys see a white coat, they start to get very worried.

Many toys have to stay in the hospital for a few weeks. This is because it takes time to recover, and it can even take a long time to find a donor and spare parts.

For example, the other day, Eddie, a small brown bear who was much loved, lost an eye. His owner cried and cried in the reception when he was told that Eddie needed to be admitted for surgery. This often happens – being separated from one’s toy can be difficult.

Eddie was put on a strict diet, put to bed with a thermometer in his mouth and a bandage over the missing eye. He had to wait a long time for a donor to arrive. This gave Eddie time to reflect on how he had ended up in such a tough situation.
It all started when his owner, Simon, had an earache and grabbed Eddie so hard that his little brown eye fell out.

The doctor was very kind and full of sympathy. They checked him from head to tail to make sure he wasn’t in shock. They reassured Eddie that brown eyes were easy to replace, and he should stay in the hospital and rest until they found one.

Next to Eddie was Laura – a beautiful doll. She told him how one day she was knocked to the floor by the family’s cat. He had always been jealous of all the attention Laura received and would do anything to make life difficult for her.

Her arm was in a sling, and she had painful bruises and a black eye, but she was very strong-willed. Eddie felt so sorry for her.

The hospital was very busy, and the nurses couldn’t help all the patients. Fresh flowers scented the wards and hallways. Bowls of fruit were next to each bed, and the smell of freshly washed bedding was always in the air. The choice of meals was delicious. Lemon pudding was a favorite!

One afternoon, however, Laura heard one of the nurses talking about a traffic accident. It seemed that a van carrying toys to a well-known toy store had overturned on the road. The toys were very upset and scattered all over the road.

The accident department was fortunately empty at the hospital, so extra beds and wheelchairs were brought in, and extra staff came in too – they feared the worst.

Many of the toys were treated at the hospital and could continue their journey to the toy store, but others had to be admitted. But luckily, there were no fatalities.

A train set had its carriage badly damaged, and a Barbie doll had a concussion. The doctors were amazing. They put Barbie to bed, gave her something to drink, and told everyone to be quiet while she rested.

The train set also felt bad, so it got a mouthful of medicine so it could relax – everyone was relieved.

It took some time for the doctors to find an eye for Eddie, but after a few days, they succeeded, and then he was ready to go home.

The train set also recovered quite quickly, and its carriages were repaired, so it went home the next day.

The doll Laura seemed to have recovered and was excited to go home. They also thought she couldn’t wait to teach the cat a lesson!

After all that excitement, the ward became fairly quiet. The doctors and nurses were relieved that the toy hospital was so peaceful and that the toys had avoided too many accidents. Children are better at taking care of their toys today, especially as new toys have become more expensive. Let’s hope that toys are taken better care of in the future and fewer need to visit the toy hospital.
